Cooking with a good conscience – Sustainability by Birgit Müller

Nature is especially close to our hearts.

Sustainability determines our actions. Birgit Müller sets standards with regard to the responsible use of wood materials and nature. Birgit Müller’s design kitchens have carried the FSC seal since as early as 2010. Thus, we work with German industrial manufacturers of kitchen systems that have been certified according to the strict requirements of the FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL® (FSC®).

FSC® is the world’s most prestigious and comprehensive certification system for responsible forest management. FSC® prevents overexploitation on a global scale, protects rare species and prevents human rights violations. The basis of the FSC® is the certification of forests according to globally uniform criteria. In these, the FSC® takes equal account of economic, ecological and social requirements for the forest resource. Annual inspections of all certified operations, both in the forest and in downstream industries, ensure the highest level of credibility and transparency. That is why the FSC® is the only forest certification system supported by environmental and social associations as well as the forestry and timber industry.

The three-layer particleboard and MDF used for our products are certified according to the strict emission requirements of TSCA Title VI / CARB2 (California Air Resources Board) and, with a formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.05 ppm, fall well below the permitted limit for emission class E1 (0.1 ppm).
